Preparation is the key
Goleman’s commercial painting and coatings teams work with our cleaning and maintenance teams to ensure the substrate is thoroughly cleaned and the surface free of defects before painting starts. Surface preparation includes eliminating dirt, grime, and loose paint. Sanding and priming creates a solid base to ensure longevity.
This provides the highest level of finishes, avoiding costly paint failure, blistering and premature breakdown. Where underlying damage or water ingress is revealed, our maintenance technicians can advise how best to address this, and carry out any repair work needed pre-painting.
Rope access and high rise painting
With the challenges of New Zealand’s often wet and wild weather, exterior high-rise painting is a specialised mission.
Goleman employs experienced and qualified painters, then trains and certifies them in abseil/rope access to work safely at heights. Rope access provides a safe and cost-effective way to access buildings without the expense of scaffolding or elevated work platforms.
Before lifting a paintbrush on a project, we meticulously assesses each location, identifying the scope of work, the correct paint specification, and the best plan of attack. Potential issues to address include the higher wind speed at heights, and protection for areas that don’t need to be painted.
Our painters then abseil in teams, ensuring the paint always has a wet edge, to avoid lines appearing mid-wall when the paint has dried. Our expertise and equipment allows us to paint precisely, delivering even coverage across the building.
Asbestos Encapsulation
As asbestos roofing products age they can become friable, potentially releasing asbestos fibres into the surrounding environment. Encapsulation can eliminate the potential for future friable asbestos exposure, while also extending the lifespan and weather tightness of the roof.
Encapsulation of roofs containing asbestos provides a more cost effective solution over replacement and eliminates the potential risks associated with asbestos roof removal.

Graffiti Removal
We use a combination of hot pressure washing and a carefully selected range of cleaners to remove graffiti. If a repaint is required we will match the colour of the existing surface and feather the new paint to match. We can also apply anti-graffiti coatings for ongoing protection.
